Today I would like to share with anyone whom reads this several ways to help to make this world we live better. As we all know, it’s important to help out where we can and do everything within our means to help out those that are less fortunate then we are. I understand that in today’s economy, this may seem to be easier said than done. But there are ways you can help right now, sitting there in front your computer. Here’s how:
- Sign up for SocialVibe. SocialVibe pairs you up with your choice of a Sponsor (like Sprint, Apple, Jack in the Box) and a Cause (Charity: Water, To Write Love On Her Arm, The Re*Generation, and many, many more). You place a badge on your social network profile page, such as MySpace or Facebook and you earn points each time someone comes to you page. These points are then converted to money that the Sponsor you chose pays the Cause you want to help. It doesn’t cost you a thing but a few minutes of your time to set up.
- Go to Free Rice. Free Rice has really two missions, the first is to help end world hunger, the second is to help provide free educational material to everyone. They have done a great job at combining the two together. Here is how it works, you go to their site, and they ask you questions. For every question you get right, they will donate 10 pieces of rice United Nations World Food Program. They do have several categories of questions you can answer, ranging from Vocabulary to Chemistry. The site is run by the United Nations World Food Program.
Both of these sites operate on this philosophy; that working together we can make a huge difference in the world. For example, say today I raise 1000 points on SocialVibe, that my only calculate to something like 3 cents (I really have no idea how they calculate how much each point is worth, I’m just kind of basing it off what Google Adsense pays for displaying Ads on websites). That 3 cents may seem like a lot, but if 1000 other people also earned the same amount of points as I did, that would be a total of $30 today for that cause. That is $30 we all earned for this cause and we didn’t have to do a thing other then when we set up our Social Vibe account and posted our Social Vibe Badges on our profiles.
It’s the same with the rice, I may have taken 10 minutes of my day today and raised 1000 pieces of rice. This may not be much, but if another 1000 also took the same amount of time and raised the same amount of rice, that would be 1,000,000 pieces of rice. I think that would help out in ending world hunger, don’t you?
If you know of any other sites similar to these ones, I would love to know what they are. Please share them with myself and anyone else by leaving a comment below.
